Freshers has come and gone in an amazing manor. We had many theme nights, UV bubbles, CO2 and the always amazing Jaguar Skills to finish off the week. Many of you will be getting used to the university atmosphere now that lectures are in full swing and I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your time here.
Now as many of you know, car parking is a huge issue here at the university and it has gotten worse since the closure of the student car park where the old Students’ Union used to be. This is all due to the University and its partners signing an agreement to develop a new £31m million swimming pool, health and academic centre, called “Bolton One”, on the University’s campus.
This is a significant investment in learning facilities for all of you as students in areas of sport, health and physical fitness. So this means that you all have access to all the sports, health and leisure facilities which will be run by the University, Bolton Council and NHS Bolton.
As many of you may have seen, there is a lot of building work going on all around the campus. This is becoming an academic quarter which will include the new Bolton College, Bolton Sixth Form College and a multi-storey car park which should hopefully be available in the next year.
So what’s the next step for the Union? That is for you to decide. Currently on the 15th December we will be holding an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the Social Learning zone at 1pm. This is where you can ask us as Sabbatical officers any questions you have; you can see where the money we have been sending has gone or even have your say on what policies we have. This meeting is for you to change the Union to how you would like it to be and get us to do more for you. This is a great opportunity and for all those who can make it, to come have your say and debate the issues raised.
Well that’s it from me for this blog entry will see you all soon.
